STEPPING UP FOR HEART 🫀
Tuesday 22nd JulI am Stepping Up For Heart this August, meaning that I will walk a minimum of 7,000 steps each day in the month of August to raise funds for the Heart Foundation, the peak body that funds cardiovascular research and support of people living with heart disease.
August is 10 days away, and I will walk in particular for children born with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD). I myself was born with CHD and had open heart surgery at the age of 12 to repair defects of the heart structure. My life consists of two parts: a relatively short part called Before Surgery, and a - thankfully - much longer part called After Surgery. After surgery my life changed practically, physically, emotionally and spiritually. For the better. The much better.
Today, although there is no cure for CHD, I feel beyond privileged because I live and I thrive, which is what I wish for all children who have been born with and will be born with CHD. I want to support research in the field of Congenital Heart Disease to help it continue to develop so that more can be done and surgery becomes less invasive and less traumatic than it was in my time.
Apart from my specific goal of walking for children born with CHD, I support the prevention and detection of all heart disease so that more lives can be saved and, like mine, be changed for the better.
Please help me reach my goal of at least raising $250 but hopefully more. We probably all know someone with heart disease or we live with heart disease ourselves. Your donation of $2 or more is tax deductible and you will automatically receive an email with your receipt upon donating, so please give generously and help everyone's hearts to keep beating longer and stronger.
Thank you, from the bottom of my🫀
